Bookings

Bookings are a serious commitment between the tutor, the student and the parent/primary carer.

For this reason it is important to establish healthy working relationships, especially between the tutor and the student, as this will facilitate better learning outcomes.

A free 30 minute meet and greet session is essential before any tutoring commitments are made.

During this initial meet and greet, I will assess the individual needs of the student. The student will also have the opportunity to decide if they would enjoy tutoring sessions with me.

After the initial meeting, I will email parents/the primary carer with an individual learning plan in which each 60 minutes tutoring session is broken down into learning objectives.

Frequently Asked Questions

These questions are commonly asked:

  • Whats the best way to get in touch?

My preferred method of communication is email. Upon receiving the email, I will then be in touch.

  • I will ask your child to perform a series of short tasks appropriate to their age expected outcomes at school. We will also play a short interactive game to get to know one another.

Upon completion of this session, it is up to my discression as to whether or not the pairing will be successful.

  • Yes - I am proficient in tutoring childen with a variety of special educational needs.

However, it is still at my discression after the initial meet and greet as to whether I have the capacity to safely and succesfully tutor your child.

  • This can be either at the students home or the tutors home - whichever is most preferable and available in each case.

A cleared and clean large table/desk and chairs is needed.

  • I will provide stationery for standard tutoring sessions.

However, if I'm supporting your child with a specific school based project, project materials should be provided by the parent/primary carer.

  • No. Distractions and stresses should be limited.

Parents/primary carers may sit in the next room and the door shall remain open so that progress of the tutoring session can be heard.

Children can stuggle to concentrate and feel pressured under the gaze of their parents/primary carers.

  • At the same agreed time I will email an online Zoom or Google Meet link for the usual tutoring session.

During the session an adult may be required to ensure the child is concentrating and participating.

If an online tutoring session is not suitable, then regular tutoring sessions will be paused and postponed to a later rearranged date.

  • Healthy snacks are welcome such as fruit or cereal bars. A drink bottle is welcome as proper hydration supports concentration.

  • I would appreciate 24 hours notice of a cancellation if possible.

If the student cancels with the tutor, the responsibility is on the student to reschedule at the tutors convenience.

If the tutor cancels, the responsibility will be on the tutor to rearrange the missed session at the students convenience.

  • No. Once you've selected a payment option, and monies have been transferred, there will be no refunds.

I will not refund a "no show" or accidentally missed session. In this instance, that particular session and monies are considered forefeit.

However, I will endevour to reschedule any properly cancelled appointments where reasonable.

  • A bank transfer is my preferred payment method.

  • Yes. I am happy to tutor any adult who wishes to learn how to read, write or perform mathematical calculations in order to support their children.
